What’s Up With the Sales – Marketing Wizards?
Amidst the current condition of the economy, more and more companies are downsizing, freezing their assets or even packing up. This is taking a toll on sales. Marketing people are getting sleepless nights on what kind of promotion they can offer customers to induce purchase.
During the days when the economy was on a roll, even a 5% discount promotion would send hundreds of customers falling in line to avail of it. Now, even a buy one take five would not even entice a customer. Times are hard indeed but is there something that the creative souls at advertising can do to increase buying interest to perk up sales, marketing paraphernalia production and total company profit gain?
The answer isn’t theirs to answer. You see, a good selling technique is needed to capture a prospective buyer based on his needs, wants and most especially, based on his capability to pay for the product or service being offered. However, since more and more customers are holding on to their hard earned savings, companies who have tagged them as prospects would just go back to their drawing tables and wonder what went wrong.
What went wrong is the difficult period everyone is going through – Recession. So do not always blame your people and start lamenting with your “What’s up with the sales, marketing wizards?” speech.
You might get an unanimous chorus from your sales and marketing people saying “Boss, we are under recession. Customers do not want to let go of their savings. It’s Recession Boss.”
