Warning: Leadership and Corporate Culture Can Impact Performance

A leader is said to be one who undertakes the leadership of a group. He helps the group to achieve its goals and objectives through mentoring and providing the appropriate guidance. He is concerned with the overall welfare of the group and seeks to see the group excel. Leadership and corporate culture has both its merits and demerits.

Performance is key in every organization. All the stakeholders expect good returns from the organizations since they have heavily invested either through subscribing for shares or extending financial support to the organization. Poor stewardship will lead to the downfall of any organization hence the need for watchdogs to keep an eye at the people entrusted with stewardship responsibilities.

Every organization has its own hierarchy of leaders. The selection criteria are always important. Selection can be a make or break point in any organization hence the need to wisely choose the best leaders. There are various qualities that one should be on the lookout for. These qualities include honesty, integrity, hardworking, among others.

Performance appraisal must be carried out on all leaders so as to help them identify their strengths while at the same time work on their weaknesses. This will help them ensure that they are best placed to ensure a steady increase in the performance of the organization.

On the other hand corporate culture has a big impact on talent, organizational success and management. It is therefore important that leaders who are hired be able to fit with the organizations culture. Failing to quickly adapt to the new organization can lead to differences among the leaders. Some would resolve to quit and therefore leading to the loss of well qualified human resource. This would impact negatively on the organizations performance.

The culture in any organization highly reflects the values of the people leading the company. To ensure that the corporate performs, the key point man must value the input of everyone, both the high-ranking and low-ranking employees. A leader has to ensure that every person’s voice is heard and evaluated through constructive criticism.

Corporate stories are powerful and should be used by leaders to inspire the employees. There are various ways in which a leader can use these stories to motivate the employees as well as encourage them to work harder and smarter so as to help the company perform in a competitive world.

Non-executive directors should be at least 50 percent of the number of board directors. They are expected to be professionals who are impartial and supposed to keep the executive directors in check. They sit in various committees such as audit committee and remuneration committee. It is through such committees that they get to ensure.

Leadership and corporate culture should be relevant to the organization. It should help the organization grow to higher heights. The leaders should be ethical in all their dealings. There should be fair treatment of employees and without any favoritism. Leaders should always attend various leadership conferences so as to learn how to become better leaders.
