How to Use Speaking to Get New Clients Fast

February 18, 2012 by  Filed under: Sales

Getting more clients is usually the biggest challenge for most knowledge or service-based business owners. Lack of sales can result in frustration, struggle, stagnation and even failure and one of the most common reasons is that you may not be promoting your products, programs and services often enough.

One of the reasons many small or solo entrepreneurs fail to promote is because they aren’t sure what will work or they don’t want to feel like they’re being pushy or “salesy”. Another reason may be that they are not doing any active promotion. Active promotion requires you to speak with a prospect in person or over the phone, not through an e-mail or Facebook message and it’s much more powerful in establishing a real connection.

Speaking is the fastest, easiest way to catapult your business to a whole new level and have clients seeking you out. Developing a speaking strategy can fill your business with eager clients very quickly. It works perfectly whether you’re just starting out or have been in business for some time. In fact if you’re at the starting gate, pick up the phone this week and start calling local organizations whose members are in your target market and offer to speak at one of their meetings.

Before you seek out speaking opportunities, you’ll want to prepare so you get the results you want by creating a signature speech or presentation that gets people interested in working with you. Here is a simple formula that will get you started. Ask yourself these questions:

– What are the top 3 problems people in my market have that I can solve?
– What are the top 3 mistakes people make that create these problems?
– What are the top 3 results I can deliver?

Now develop a 45-minute talk that explains these problems, the mistakes people make that get them there, and the changes that will eliminate these problems. Start with your story or the story of a client who you have successfully helped navigate the path from problem to result. Conclude your talk by mentioning the programs or products that help you clients achieve these results.

Even if you are not permitted to “sell from the stage” you can offer people a wonderful gift-your giveaway-in exchange for their name and e-mail address so you can add them to your subscriber list. Or you can offer the first 5 people who approach you after your presentation an opportunity to pick your brain in a “complimentary phone discovery session”. These are just a few of the many ways you can almost instantly turn speaking into clients.

There are so many ways that speaking can attract people to you and give you what you need to succeed, like–

– More subscribers
– More social media followers
– More website traffic
– More interested leads
– More clients
– More visibility in your market
– More online sales….

And more income.

I’m going to challenge you to make this a key marketing strategy in your business and you’ll easily fill your business with eager clients who are excited about working with you.
